Murray to play in China Open

Britain's number one - currently in the unfamiliar position of being ranked outside the world's top 10 - will join the likes of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and newly-crowned US Open winner Marin Cilic in Beijing from September 27 onwards. Murray has not played in the event since 2010 and will be keen to accrue the points he needs to qualify for the season-ending ATP Finals in London.

Telangana govt gives Rs 1 cr to Sania Mirza for US Open win

The Telangana government today felicitated tennis ace Sania Mirza for her recent victory in the US Open mixed doubles and presented her a cheque of Rs one crore. "Sania, who is the brand ambassador for Telangana, met Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao here, where he appreciated her for winning the title and wished that she win the upcoming China Open and Japan Open as well," a release from the Chief Minister's Office said.
