More kidney stone disease projected due to global warming, predicts UT Southwestern researchers

Global warming is likely to increase the proportion of the population affected by kidney stones by expanding the higher-risk region known as the "kidney-stone belt" into neighboring states, researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center and UT Dallas have found.

It would also explain the 4% rise in uric acid in the average adult since 1960.

Yeah, remember, the world is supposed to end on 12-21-12 anyway! Kidding. They were killed, this is why the calendar stopped on that date! ;-)

The urologists "predict" an increase based on "possible" climate change statistics garnered from reports of scientists who have a vested interest in promoting the doom and gloom scenario of global warming. What's to keep people from properly hydrating in these new warmer climates?

That is the date of my birthday, so couldn't we just ask the mayans to end the world at a later or earlier date? I want to celebrate my birthday, not die on it!

Layer upon layer upon layer of conjecture. Gee thanks. Thanks so much for yet another statistical model-laden "science" article.

No mention of genetics, mineral intake, stress, or regional dietary habits, yet the region in question is the culinary distinct southern US, and the people mentioned are those going to WAR.

They have apparently tossed aside all past research and slapped their dehydration theory into some "global warming" models and came up with this.

"To forecast climate change, Dr. Tom Brikowski, used models of global warming obtained from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's 2007 Fourth Assessment Report, in which predicted temperature increases are based on expectations of future greenhouse gases".

More models, stats and conjecture.

"Dr. Pearle and her colleagues plan to conduct future studies to understand the exact correlation of urine volume with environmental temperature".

First prove that there is a correlation, or is that step no longer necessary? Playing is fun.

"Obviously, this escalation is a problem when considering the costs associated with treating kidney-stone disease," said co-author Dr. Yair Lotan, assistant professor of urology at UT Southwestern. "Nationwide, the cost of treating these new kidney-stone cases could rise as high as $1 billion."

Here we go........

You got that right, they are creating a whole new industry based on conjecture. Just like the credit card companies did by telling the news media that their customer accounts have been compromised and now they offer protection for a fee of course. Just follow the money people, you will get an idea what their motivations are.

::: steals the Delorian (sp?) & races back in time. Quickly adds a day to the calendar so now it reads 12-22-12 :::
There ya go ;) I want some of your birthday cake, please?

shouldn't they prove that global warming exists first before they start attributing other problems to it?
i think my girlfriend left me because of global warming but it may have been because of my snoring, not sure. she wouldn't say. lol

oh btw, one doesn't have to believe in global warming to be happy to have a car that doesn't pollute the environment. and you can modify your car rather easily using the technology at http://mywater4gasengine.com to reduce carbon emissions towards zero while boosting mpg

Your girlfriend left you because it was a full moon. And no, you can't substitute water for gasoline, the combustible engine was designed to run on fossil fuels, not water. It's just another internet scam designed to rip off the gullible.

The photo of the two urologists shows two young MDs with big, wide grins on their faces, plus flattering high camera angle.

It's called "marketing", not "science".
