Blue-Eyed People Have One Common Ancestor

A team at the University of Copenhagen have tracked down a genetic mutation which took place 6-10,000 years ago and is the cause of the eye color of all blue-eyed humans alive on the planet today.

I guess I need not point out that if we go back far enough, we all had a common ancestor?

Is there any pattern as to recessiveness or dominance in the passing on of this variation? My brother had blue eyes; my eyes are brown. Yet we both had the same parents, hence the same ancestors. I’m sure many other siblings can claim the same.

I always thought that some people have brown eyes because they’re full of you-know-what up to [hold hand above eyebrows] here. And what's this about “losing the ability” to produce brown eyes? Sounds to me like the bald man claiming that God made only so many perfect heads, the rest He covered with hair.

Obviously, your mother fooled around.

Why don't scientist just read the bible. It has all the answers they keep discovering. The bible proves itself right more and more each day.

Yes, Another, let's just abandon ALL science and reference only the Bible. The KJV having been transcribed in 1600 something...makes perfect sense. Please keep your ignorance to yourself, don't speak for intelligent Christians, you're giving God a bed rep.

So people have only had blue eyes for 6-10 thousands years. Not very interest, too bad we didn't guess special powers like x-ray vision or something.

All Human kind have a common ancestor, Adam. Blue eyes, green eyes, white skin, black skin, brown skin are minor differences.

All human species are descendents of one man and one women.

If you dont belive directly on authority of scriptures, Science will slowly bring it to you.

There are still some people who will insist to re-inevent the wheel

There appears to be a movement in some science branches to explain certain Biblical occurences and situations. How about the emerging fact, mitochondrial DNA in some people groups can go back to an 'Adam','Eve', or people with particular
religious habits? Is this a form sociobiology or proving faith?

Having blue eyes, I was drawn to the article but was quickly disappointed when it didn't appear to have any substance other than scientific conjecture. More research funds down the toilet.

Guess I was expecting to find out who this ancestor was and what happened to them to cause this "mutation" or as others have described it, "a sign of superiority" LOL.

An intelligent Christian knows that God's Word is the final word and his faith kicks in when issues are not understandable to the simple human mind. How did they "give God a bad rep" by giving him the credit due him. Think of the millions on top of millions that have been spent (in the name of science which ends up proving the Bible anyway)trying to research things that have either already been established in God's "LIVING" word, or trying to prove something that is contrary to His word. Also think of the years of research spent on rediculousness trying to prove a farce-like evolution. You know, I could spend all night throwing all the pieces of the most difficult puzzle ever made (or the easiest for that matter)up in the air hoping that all the pieces fell in the perfect place to form a complete picture and it will never happen. So much for the big bang theory. Just happen to think that the puzzle pieces had to be designed, made and formed as well. Everything has to have a designer and a maker-even a piece of paper. The ability to reproduce did not just happen; in fact, the male and female (the necessary factors)and the process of reproduction did not just happen. Take that thought process further regarding every living thing, the way our bodies function, the way our minds-brains work. This can't just happen. There had to be a designer and a maker and it had to be a being of supreme intelligence--all knowing. Also once all things were made, something or someone has had to keep it all in motion and keep things from flying apart. What makes this even more wonderful and awesome, is that that someone also made me and loves me with an unconditional love and has given me a life and hope. How incredible is this!!!!It couldn't get any better!!!!
