Medalists participate in pre-game events
FREMONT -- Myles Porter and Jacob Wukie won the hearts of the judges in London, and now if they have not already, they will win the hearts of Fremont.
FREMONT -- More than 1,000 of Jacob Wukie's friends and fellow church members turned out at Grace Community Church Sunday morning, as the silver medal-winning U.S. Olympian credited his religious faith, training and support from family and friends for his successful trip to the 2012 London Olympics.
FREMONT -- Jacob Wukie brought home a silver medal in team archery from the 2012 Olympic Games, and Grace Community Church wants to honor the Fremont Ross High School graduate for his accomplishments with a special Sunday service.
The London Olympics are over, but Boston.com's Olympics interns spent part of their time getting their paparazzi on and keeping an eye out for Olympic athletes making public appearances, such as when archery silver medalists Brady Ellison, Jacob Wukie and Jake Kaminski appeared on a segment of the Today Show with Al Roker.
The new curling? Archery was hot at London Games
Maybe it's the effect of "The Hunger Games" and bow-and-arrow-toting heroine Katniss Everdeen, or the lure of competing at a 200-year-old venue.
