Hanley misses out on European medal

Though Ireland's Cameron Hanley jumped a double clear round with just a single time fault in the final competition of the European Individual Show Jumping Championships in Windsor, England on Sunday, he missed winning a medal by just .65 of a point.

Irish competing in Europe this weekend

Eventers make up the majority of Irish riders competing abroad this weekend, with George Russell joining Olympic riders Austin O' Connor, Sacha Pemble and Captain Geoff Curran in four-star action at Luhmuhlen, Germany, while Bramham Park in England sees a total of seven Irish competitors in both of the three-star events.

Twomey takes seventh in Madrid

Cork's Billy Twomey was the best of the Irish in the Spanish Grand Prix at Madrid on Saturday, with a seventh place on Anna Kennedy's bay stallion 'KEC Maximum Joe'. The 32-year-old Cheshire-based Twomey was one of ten through to the jump-off from a starting field of 46, but dropped a pole in the final round to finish just behind the leaders.
