NJcousin wrote: <quoted text> thank you Kbb23 that was my point exactly.... the driver of the SUV is my cousin, and at this point were all just waiting to hear back about his condition.. at least someone understands that this was a terrible accident and that someone lost their life, there shouldnt be any accusations pointed in any direction especially from people who have no idea what the situation was. NJcousin: you just got done accusing the deceased man of driving wrongly instead of your cousin....doesn't that make you a hypocrit with the above statement? Shame on you.

As a matter of fact to all of you who believe that the accident was caused by the "young man," you should have been on scene like I was, it was caused by the driver of the pick up truck. The "young man," did what he could to prevent the accident. The point here should be to stop assuming and look at the issue at hand. A man was killed and a young man is in critical condition at UVA. Pray for the man who lost his life and pray that the young man to not loose his life.

thinking free wrote: Accidents don't just happen, as much as we would like to believe that, it just ain't so. Somebody screwed up, as callous as that sounds it a reality hundreds of people have to live with every day. Statistically women are involved in more accidents than men but men tend to be involved in more serious accidents. As in other posts about people dying in various ways its not the deceased I care about, he history, its those that have to carry on in their absence, that's the bad part. And if Gawd doesn't like lord addressing himself as such, tough, let him come down here a say something, I thought not. Thinking free, I'm not sure where you got your statistics from but I've been in EMS for 15 years and most of the accidents that I run are drunk males. I realize every region is different but don't go quoting statistics unless you have been there. You are right on one thing though. The family/friends left behind DO have to pick up the pieces. So quit being a jerk and let them do it in peace WITHOUT your rude comments. ALthough, you aren't the only one. And God doesn't need to come down here to prove His point. You do that well enough. God bless the people involved in this accident.

EMT: Could you be more specific in how the accident happened? I don't want or need the horrific details but rather did one vehicle pull out in front of the other or was ice to blame, etc.

Disappointed Virginian wrote: The man that was killed in this accident is my husbands uncle. No one knows what really happened. You had to be there. As for all of you talking about who is or is not a good driver. No one is a good driver on ice, it doesn't matter whether or not you have 4x4 on ice (slick roadways). You really should watch what you are saying, because you don't know what family member may be reading this (like me). Someone could really hurt someones feelings. Dissappointed Va. I want to offer my condolences for your loss. My prayers are truely with you and your family. Please ignore the ignorance on this blog. My apologies for that also. MY BEST ADVICE TO YOU RIGHT NOW IS TO QUIT READING ANY MORE OF THESE COMMENTS. I think the majority of the community are so ashamed of the behavior of these bloggers they are just staying off the site. Now, all that's left here are ignorant people. Try to get thru this without thinking of these ignorant comments. My prayers are with you.

Spelling Counts - I can not tell for sure whether or not the weather had an effect on this crash, but considering the conditions of the road way and the amount of snow and ice i would not be surprised if the snow and ice was a major contributor to the accident. Again, a man lost his life and a young man is in critical conditions. I continue to pray for the families of both men!

bad wrote: people with poor driving skills cause crashes! Not necessarily. Just because you can't ice skate doesn't mean you shouldn't walk. I don't care how good of a driver a person thinks they are, ICE IS ICE!!!!!!!!!! There is no traction on ice, period. All of you out there saying hurtful things, you really need to get a life and stop being so judgemental. If you weren't there, then you DON'T know what happened. So, please all of you give it a rest. The families on both sides are going through enough turmoil as it is.
