I'm not a teacher, but am glad they want to change that....There are some kids that just cant be helped, thats not the teachers fault....My kid struggles in school, doesnt always hand in his homework. He'll pass a test with flying colors, an the next test he bombs...It all depends on how motivated the kids are so is that the teachers fault...NO, as a parent i am taking the steps to help my child in school not rely on the teachers to just pass him along.

What if a teacher gets stuck with a room full of stupid kids? Some dogs can't be taught to do tricks.

There are sure allot of excuses out here for incompetent teachers.
I was not a very good student at first, Then a real good teacher got ahold of me and changed my ways.
Thank you MRS.BRENEER!

Walk a HALF a mile in their shoes. Talk is cheap my friend. I've seen more than seven COMPLETELY crack up from the stress and quit, and those are just close friends.

You have SEVEN close friends who have quit their 9 month a year job?? Ya right ... I have only ONE close friend who is a teacher and she LOVES the 3 MONTH VACATION she gets every year, the TAX PAYER FUNDED PENSION SHE WILL GET AT AGE 52 (Pension?, what the hell is a pension???), and the Cadillac health insurance benefits, so STFU ...

One her daughter found in her garage hanging from the rafters, one they found under her classroom desk having a nervous breakdown, one they found outside the building having a nervous breakdown, one who drank because she couldn't handle it anymore and quit, three quit because their boss is a tyrant and the super won't do anything about it.

The city that pays them increases their wages 2%, but their property taxes go up 5%. Every year they work, they actually get poorer.

Some will be 50 years old or more before their student loans are paid off.

As in any job, you can retire after 30 years, but your pension wont be dick unless you retire at 72. How would you like to work for FIFTY-TWO YEARS?

Not 3 months off, more like 2 1/2, and a week UNPAID to put all their crap away, and a week UNPAID to drag it back out again (what do you think, elves do it). 8 days a month are weekends= 20 days= 5 weeks off UNPAID. Hell, I think almost anybody working 23 years deserves a vacation even if it is UNPAID.

And what are you talking about Cadillac Health care?!?! They pay $1200 a year in medical deductibles and co-insurance, drug co-pays are about $400 a year, and starting next year (they haven't formally announced it yet), dental will have a yearly cap at $1500 per family.

So anytime you want to get SCHOOLED again, Red, you just bring it, and I'll make you look like an even bigger tumbleweed chasing redneck Okie that sounds like HE never made it to school much.

Most people in the workforce DON'T get a pension, DON'T get months off during the summer, work less than 8 hours a day ( Yes, most of the teaches at my kids school are unavailable after school lets out and leave within 30 minutes of the kids heading out). Most of us can't count a 4 hour day ( or early dismissal as they call it) as a full day. And we don't get early dismissal days every month, or every week as in some districts. If I am paid days to go to a work related conference, I have to go. Teachers can choose not to attend at all and just take the day off.

Most of us don't get a week off in the spring, over a week off in the middle of winter, extra days off around Thanksgiving. And most of us that work a full time job would get in trouble for showing Disney movies and sledding days for the last week before the vacations and still it a legimate work day. Most of the people out there working don't get a salary increase at all unless it’s a mandated minimum wage increase. Many don't get the option of health care. Most people can't ask friends or family members to come into their jobs to be an assistant or "class helper".

I do think teachers are important and have a stressful job, but its not any worse than a lot of jobs out there that don't get all the luxuries that they do. Teachers know what they signed up for. If they can't do their job or can't handle the stress of it then they should find another job. And, like most of the workforce, if I can't do my job and my work suffers, I get fired. Why should teachers be immune?

Dude, you can't do their job. Why all the whining? All I said was that my wife puts in so much time that she is married to her job first, and me and the family second. That's ok, we're rich, remember? I can't even scrape up enough for the divorce. All you people want from them is more and more. The way you shoot them down, and then me as a spouse I'm supposed to smile when I meet you at school functions. You didn't even read the post about how I talked about where the pay increases go, how the off time is spent. You know NOTHING! Well, you can have your ****ing teachers because I can't live like this anymore. You can take the whole profession and shove it in your ass. Merry ****ing Xmas. Can't even say Christmas because it's not "politically correct".

Hey Fox6, you want a story- how about the one where my wife starts at 5 am and ends it at 1 or 2 am, then takes it out on me and the kids because she doesn't get enough sleep, then I have to read **** like this on the internet!
