The lottery is ran for a profit. Overall more money is taken in than paid out. Sure some people win prizes. But it's coming out of other peoples pockets.

That "profit" goes into lottery scholarships. I've known quite a few students who have benefitted from it.

"benefited" not benefitted. It's not so great when you're corrected, is it?

Shhhhhh. I am trying to fool Barb and pretend to focus on the positive. I don't want her to know I am really Carol, her make believe stalker. Again please keep this on the down low. Thanks troll buddy.

Easy there, don't let your guard down with her.

Besides, she was just getting what she deserves, as this is what she would do to everyone else, and that includes YOU! Why worry about her aggravation; she just likes to blow smoke most of the time, and when she is not doing that, she enjoys correcting everyone's grammar and spelling by making it appear as though she is smarter than all.

Sorry, but both forms of the spelling are correct according to Merriam-Webster dictionary. I don't usually defend Barb, but this time, I must protest your faulty correction.

I did not bother to look in the dictionary the first time I posted, but I have now, and both my Webster dictionaries DO NOT show both forms as you state.

Nevertheless, I don't care to get in a discussion over this. It will only bloat BM's head that someone is actually debating over her.

Good luck to you, and kudos on your defense.

OK, after all the bickering about who's the best speller, etc., think about this.
Would you want your name publicized after winning a lot of $$$?

They'll walk off with about 1 and a half million, then they will take a few trips. They will buy a few cars and maybe a house and then they'll be broke again; at least they will have something to show for it with hopes of not spending it at the casino and losing it.

Wrong.

If the prize is 2.4 million:

1.2 Million after lottery commision takes the standard 50% for local students

400~600k after taxes

with payments spread over 40 years (typical for a large lotto prize)

10~15k per year (assuming you'll be alive for all 40 years and/or the same lottery company will be around for all 40 years)

If you take a balloon prize (all the money at once) 150-200k, tops.

The $2.4 Million number is just how much money people (moslty poor people) have spent on lotto tickets.
