New Jersey sheriff's comments about Sikh attorney general, blacks prompt calls for resignation
A New Jersey sheriff is under fire for belittling the state's Sikh attorney general in a secretly-taped conversation, prompting calls for his resignation. The newly surfaced audio clips - obtained by WNYC - were recorded on Gov. Phil Murphy's inauguration day on Jan. 16. Bergen County Sheriff Michael Saudino can be heard complaining Gurbir Grewal, the first Sikh American to serve as a state attorney general, was only appointed because of "the turban."
