Conservatives roar; GOP trembles

Full story: Reuters

Many top Republicans are growing worried that the party's chances for reversing its electoral routs of 2006 and 2008 are being wounded by the flamboyant rhetoric and angry tone of conservative activists and media personalities, according to interviews with GOP officials and operatives.

This is a whole genre of journalism: Marxist journalists telling republicans to become socialists. I guess any republican stupid enough to buy it deserves to lose the next election.

What’s going to happen in 2010? We’re going to elect REAL conservatives instead of effeminate RINOS and outright traitors? Remember the last time a Republican majority repealed a bunch of egregious, unconstitutional legislation, cut the size of the government and then cut their own benefits and pay? No? Me either.

The republican party from lincoln forward has never been oriented towards personal freedom, fiscal responsibility, and a sound dollar. Their only claim along these lines is that the democrats are worse. So, the question is, how long do republicans want to stay out of power before they get rid of their liberal dinosaurs and 'get it'. Its hard to say, but they seem to be extremely slow learners, and most prefer losing elections to giving up their power within the party.

I've written before, but I don't think you caught it. Please, please, please go register the "Von Mises" name with Topix. Anyone that follows the teachings on The Ludwig von Mises Institute deserves applauding.

I (and others) just need to make sure we don't miss your posts. Doing so will make sure that your name isn't bastardized like "Mrs. R."

If the GOP refuses to embrace conservative values, then the Conservative Party will have to get down to the people's business.

Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glen Beck will be the best friends the Democracts ever had in 2010. Watch and see. MOST Republican votere don't want to be associated with this kind behavior. It's not becase they espouse conservativism, it's because they are loutish and obviosly phoney. But, because the "leaders" of the GOP are actually afraid of these guys, new voters ID the party with them. If they can't handle these guys, they can't stand up to America's enemies either.

Why don't you guys get rid of your racists like Olbenfurer, God-awful-WHOA, Mad cow, Katie Koran, Charlie "Hamas" Gibson or Brian "Green week" Williams? That would be a good start. Don't worry about the speck in your opponents eye, get the telephone pole out of your own demoncrats. Ocrumby is
gone in 2012. All the leftist agenda will be swept out by new Congress in 2010. You can thank the Commie BurpRok for dimming any minorities chances be ever being elected again. Fly moonbats fly all the way to Russia and take up residence there. I will never say "Heil Obama"!

Thanks. Good to hear from a well-read and like-minded freedom lover! I will give your suggestion some thought, though I don't feel I am qualified to take on the von mises name permanently.

These are interesting times. The republican party is finding that catering to christian conservatives while embracing deficiti spending and expanding the state, is not enough to keep them in office. The marxist left is alienating people like crazy, but we don't see the republican party--as it is currently constituted--as an adequate response.

Hope we can won people over to freedom and affordable government, but I am expecting a weimar republic sort of currency crisis as the more likely scenario.

The problem isn't a left or right issue, not at the grass roots level. It's the divide and conquer mentality every election cycle that pits neighbor against neighbor in war of rhetoric and little to no action by those elected.

The Republican party is not the same party as it was under Eisenhower. It started changing with the election of Reagan. There is nothing wrong with being a Conservative Republican. It is the ultra-right wingers that are destroying the party. Same as with the loony left destroying the Democratic party. People need to use just a little common sense.

Amen. I'm a former Republican myself; I no longer recognize the party since it was taken over by the radical Reich. If I were still a member of the GOP, I'd be really p!$$ed at what's been happening. Oddly enough, the screaming silence emanating from the party tells me that those still defining themselves as Republican (a number that is now down to 20% and dropping fast) are just fine with letting the inmates run the asylum.

I wonder why that is?

I cannot put myself in any category. I have some beliefs that are Republican and some Democrat. I always vote who I think will make the best President. I did not think that Carter, Reagan, or Bush, Jr. were good Presidents. However, I did think that Bush, Sr. and Clinton were good Presidents. As far as Obama...the jury is still out on that one.

So you're thinking that Obama's trillions in deficit spending might work out well for us? Most people accept the fact that he has failed miserably. He has secured his place as our worst president ever.
