Of course no one answered the phone at the headquarters in Finland late Wednesday when the time difference is 6 hours ahead and the inept reporters called when it was probably 3 in the morning in Finland. The Courant reporters are too dumb for their own good.

While important from a legal perspective, the money involved is relatively speaking, chicken feed. How many of these companies have employees which should be paying state income tax here - even if they are nonresidents of Connecticut? How many of these companies should be paying corporation business tax on their operations here? These monies are going somewhere else.

Blumenthal and Bysewicz probably don't want to bring in the Department of Revenue Services since their efforts would be upstaged. But, it should happen!

If Joe read the piece a little more closely he would see that the story was written by a reporter from Associated Press.

"Connecticut companies are put at a competitive disadvantage when out-of-state businesses that don't register properly compete," Bysiewicz said.

I think that's way overstated. Competitive advantage comes from things like price, quality, service, product uniqueness, cost management, etc., not from the simple act of registering a business.

You register your business because the law says you have to. Gaining and maintaining competitive advantage is up to you.

What's the problem we still hire out of state companies to do work here?

They will just leave CT and still do work here. Get them Rell get those small companies and don't bother with the gas prices. That's more important.

Hmmmm, Handout ID cards to the illegals in New Haven, then crack down on start up companies that got the lawless message when the cards were handed out. Enforce all laws equally.
