What does it cost to run a team in NASCAR?

Full story: www.examiner.com

The saying is if one wants to make a little money in NASCAR racing they should start with a lot of money. In the ultra secretive world of NASCAR it is often extremely difficult to nail down what it cost to actually field a team in the premier Sprint Cup series. Of course once people get to suing each other a lot of things become public knowledge.

A necessary evil. Without the sponsors, there's no racing.

When sponsors had the money to throw around on advertising budgets all was good
Things have changed with thr economy being what it is. Budgets have been slashed and new sponsorship is hard to find.
The end result is lower attendance at the tracks. Fans don't have the extra cash to throw around.

NASCAR is, above all else, a business, and like most businesses it's suffering during the recession.

But as America recovers, NASCAR will recover.

A few years from now, the full stands at every race will be seen as a "resurgence of interest", but really it will just mean that NASCAR has recovered along with the rest of the economy.

Heck yeah, if someone is willing to pay for it, they'll plaster a logo anywhere.

The drivers' fire suits are a joke, so many sponsor patches you can hardly tell the color of the material. And the cars have so many stickers on the quarter panels, it was only a matter of time before they went under the hood.

Funny thing is, any time you get to see under the hood of a car during a race, you're pretty much looking at a loser.

Jim Rome is the biggest punk, and I mean that in the prison way, on TV. He had one good show and that was the one that Jim Everette knocked him on his backsides on national TV.

Every athlete will tell you there are only two types of people in this world, there are those that do and there are those who talk about those who do.
Jim Rome has never done anything in his life except to talk about those who do.

Jim Rome is also a two face coward, he talks bad about a sport until he has a member of that sport on the show and then he kisses ass to the point of proving what a punk he is.

What does being a punk "in the prison way" mean?

Not necessarily homosexual, perhaps bisexual. More than one man has "Come out of the closet" later in life.

I think you're just wishing. The Jim Everett thing was like 20 years ago. Nobody holds a grudge that long unless there's something behind it.
