The abuse behind Scientology's facade - St. Petersburg Times
In recent years the Church of Scientology worked hard to present a kinder, gentler image to the public, claiming it had cast aside the criminal activities, dirty tricks and abusive behavior of the past that brought it widespread condemnation and sent some of its former leaders to prison.
But a St. Petersburg Times special report this week revealed the reality behind the new facade: At its core, the Church of Scientology has not changed. Scientologists Continue Cover Up of Suicide
In my last blog I reported on the death of Steve Brackett, a Scientologist who committed suicide over money trouble.
Rank and file Scientologists have decided to lie about Brackett’s death by saying he died in a head-on collision. This is being done to protect the belief system of Scientology, as it is believed by Scientologists that Brackett possessed supernatural abilities due to his achieving the church’s exalted state of OTScientology founder's home sold to church

AU Senator says it's time to re-examine Scientology's claims as a religion
The church of Scientology is fighting one of the biggest battles in its 50-year history.
Federal senator Nick Xenophon says it's time to re-examine Scientology's claims as a religion and to change the laws to force the group to start paying tax. "We need to have a close look at those laws because I think there's a lot of community concern that an organisation such as Scientology gets the huge benefits of having the tax exempt status as a religion," Senator Xenophon said. Historically Scientology brands anyone who questions their organisation a religious bigot. "This is not about religious bigotry, this is about accountability and I think it's pretty cowardly of an organisation to start accusing those that just want to question they way they operate, to make sure what they do is transparent, accountable and fair," Senator Xenophon said. As always, the church of Scientology declined a request to be interviewed.www.theregister.co.uk | Gold Mask
Wikipedia bans Church of Scientology editors
Exclusive: In an unprecedented effort to crack down on self-serving edits, the Wikipedia supreme court has banned contributions from all IP addresses owned or operated by the Church of Scientology and its associates.
According to evidence turned up by admins in this long-running Wikiland court case, multiple editors have been "openly editing [Scientology-related articles] from Church of Scientology equipment and apparently coordinating their activities." Leaning on the famed WikiScanner, countless news stories have discussed the editing of Scientology articles from Scientology IPs, and some site admins are concerned this is "damaging Wikipedia's reputation for neutrality."
