Maj. Hasan Classmate: 'I Was Not Surprised'

Full story: abclocal.go.com

REDONDO BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- Every Sunday a group called Veterans for Peace places hundreds of crosses at the Santa Monica Pier to represent all of the U.S. soldiers killed in the war on terror. from abclocal.go:

"Redondo Beach doctor Val Finnell was a former classmate of Hasan's from 2007 to 2008. Both men were getting a master's in public health ... but Finnell says Hasan was always focused on another subject.

"'He would frequently say that he was Muslim first and an American second. That came out in just about everything he did in the university,' said Finnell.'We questioned how somebody could be an officer in the military and swear allegiance to the constitution to defend America against all enemies foreign and domestic and have that type of conflict.'

"... Finnell said Hasan would become visibly upset when people challenged him about his beliefs, but no one ever thought he would resort to such violence.

"'My reaction was first I was shocked. But then knowing the extreme beliefs that Maj. Hasan had, I was not surprised,' said Finnell."

It seems you read that all the time... their religion first, country second.... when they live in one of our countries....(you dont hear that being said when it comes to the west bank or gaza).

Media reports have stated that the family said he was upset about going .... collegues and neighbours report that he said he was ok with going....

As you know Joe... when you join the Military you are doing it to serve your country ... and considering the amount of time he has served .. its amazing that it is his first deployment o/s.

He knew what he was getting himself in for... he has done over 20 years..(that equates to joining around 1989 ... and think of when the first Gulf war was - Dessert Storm).

There is no excuse for what this guy did ... none what so ever....

Any person that lives in our countries and puts religion first ... needs to leave our countries and reside in a country that is the just Islamic.. its that simple.

Of course muslims put religion first. They are so obsessed with their religion, nevermind that most religions are fairy tales.

Doh, right. When I first heard the report, even before I heard his name, I wondered, Islam, maybe.

Later when I heard his name, I wondered, Islam, probably.

So when they reported that he yelled 'god is great' before the killing started, I no longer wondered.

No this is not what you wondered you old goat.

You heard his name, you thought MUSLIM, maybe

When it was alleged he cried "God is Greater" before committing murder, you knew then - MUSLIM.

Not ISLAM.

It is Muslims you hate sunshine. Islam forbids murder - put people put under extreme stress and distress to the point they snap and kill people - well that isn't "going postal" is it? That only applies to non-Muslims.

in case Sahihs are (nowadays) considered not trustworthy... Quran also encourage terrorism.

Surah 017.059:

And We refrain from sending the signs, only because the men of former generations treated them as false: We sent the she-camel to the Thamud to open their eyes, but they treated her wrongfully: We only send the Signs by way of terror (and warning from evil).

017.060 Behold! We told thee that thy Lord doth encompass mankind round about: We granted the vision which We showed thee, but as a trial for men,- as also the Cursed Tree (mentioned) in the Qur'an: We put terror (and warning) into them, but it only increases their inordinate transgression!

You are just another bigot that refuses to accept the facts. I don't hate Muslims, I hate Islam. There is something about humanity that makes the majority accept a sky buddy. Mo used that fact to get people to murder rob and plunder for him and passed it off as a religion.

This assumes a legal conflict. Not a justification for murder.

You have this the wrong way around.

The stuff you hate is done by Muslims but not sanctioned by Islam. However you like Muslims but hate Islam.

Why don't you hate the evil acts irrespective of who does them? That wuold require moral courage which sadly you have never really had. Even a goat would know better.

Under what authority do you determine what is and what is not sanctioned by Islam?

I do hate the evil acts irrespective of who does them. What makes you think I don’t?

So you follow a baseless assumption with a personal insult.

How Islamic of you.

PS: I never said I liked Muslims. I said I don’t hate them.
