The most direct response to your argument is unfortunately not found online, but in Dr. Roger's book "Jesus, the Bible and Homosexuality: Explode the Myths, Heal the Church."

The main thrust is quite simple, however: your argument is based on a classic logical fallacy. It assumes that because A causes B, that /only/ A can cause B (which of course is not true: C could also cause B independent of A). Jesus here does not address homosexual relationships, only the origin of gender and procreative sexuality.

Ah, the argument from omission. Jesus didn’t mention incest, pedophilia, zoophilia, and many other sexual disorders.

Jesus didn’t have to address homosexual relationships because they were forbidden in the Jewish sexual ethic. His audience knew this fact and it was accepted because it was deemed as an abomination by His Father.

Gagnon destroys Jack Roger’s flawed argument here.

Think Again...your post does not refute what Dr. Rogers has said in his book. It is just a convoluted swing your partner round do-see-do conjecture swing.

Actually, this thing seemed pretty childish.

I doubt very seriously if you even read the selection.

I have read Mr. Gagnon's page on Dr. Rogers, and I remember finding it quite laughable with logic holes one could drive a truck through. I don't have time this morning to go reread it and show them to you, but if I have time later, I might just do that.

Funny, I have read Roger's work and remember finding Scriptural holes one could drive a truck through.

Hey, TA!

Care to cite the words of Christ Jesus? His are "God's Inspiured and written" words, by your definition, aren't they?

By the way, TA, what are you doing here? Promoting schism? Judging human children to be unworthy of Salvation who cannot be blamed for the way they were born? If its simply a matter of original sin, TA, then mind your own business by eliminating sin from your own behavior, first.

Ken,

You are losing your edge and becoming just like all the others.

I cited Jesus's words concerning marriage. Care to follow what HE said concerning who can get married?

What am I doing here? I am here to present the other side of this argument for those in TEC who may read but never comment. I am also here to speak the Truth as it is laid out in Scripture. I know that bothers you and your TEC revisionist friends but so be it.

No one is judging anyone to be unworthy of salvation. We are discussing what is clearly defined as sin not anyone's worthiness or unworthiness. I am surprised this clear distinction is lost on you.

I have never claimed to be without sin. Why don't you stop trying to redefine what God has already called sin and leading these people astray.

TA, you seem to think that you understand Scripture completely, failing to recognize that there is always a possibility for each of us limited humans to be very and deeply wrong in our understanding of Scripture. Scripture itself is God-breathed and True, but we are limited and damaged - Truth eludes us and the Evil One deceives us at all chances.

Just because you /think/ you understand what you are reading doesn't mean that you are correct in that belief. That's why we need the logical process of systematic theology - something that "revises" our understandings over and over again: this is called growth.

Warren, I do not think that I understand Scripture completely. I lean not on my own understanding on this issue but the entire church catholic (not RCC). Even the Anglican consensus arrived at Lambeth 1998 is that homosexuality is incompatible with Scripture. This fact has not changed.

I agree the evil one deceives and his first deception began by asking “did God really say.” It seems that question is being asked now to an issue that is completely settled by Scripture, nature, and tradition.

What if our “understandings” are correct and do not need to be revised? Again, I lean not on my own understanding of Scripture but the entire church catholic.

The process I have seen play out in TEC is that the “listening process” proceeds until everyone either agrees or leaves but the revisionist agenda is still pushed through. This is not “growth” but politics!

Can you wait a few years?

"The New International Version of the Bible is set to get its first revision in more than 25 years.

"Yet, the revision could re-open a heated debate about changing gender terms in the Scripture.

"One version, Todays' NIV, changed some phrases such as 'sons of God' to 'children of God.'

"While supporters say such changes more closely reflect the original language, critics say it twists the original meanings of the Scripture for the sake of political correctness.

"Douglas Moo, a professor at Wheaton College and chairman of the Committee on Bible Translation, promised that every gender-related change would be reviewed closely.

"'I am not sure how it's going to come out,' Moo said.'We have a genuine, authentic review process ... Everything is on the table.'

"Randy Stinson of the Louisville, Ky.-based Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood has been one of the most vocal opponents of gender-inclusive translations. Still, he said the council is in favor of updating the NIV.

"'We're still probably going to differ on the way they handle some of the gender language,' Stinson said.'But we're open and anxious to see what they come up with and we're really going to be reserving judgment.'

"The revised NIV is set to be released in 2011."

I replied on the other thread but you should look into a Parallel Bible. I think I am going to ask for one for Christmas.

Do you have a good study Bible now? I would get one of them first before the Parallel Bible.

I AM NOT a son of GOD, but a child of God. If I really thought that the Bible only spoke to men, then I would be an Atheist.
