What is that supposed to mean? Are you siding with the Catholic League or the city of San Francisco? Or neither?

Not surprising considering the ACLU's long history of affiliation with the Ku Klux Klan and other anti-Catholic organizations.

I'm glad the full court is hearing the case. The city of San Francisco did go overboard.

No. The ACLU was closely affiliated with the KKK. The ACLU was always willing to represent the KKK in its requests for marches.
Many of the members of the ACLU were active Klan members as well.
Probably more so in the past than today.

Did you know that members of the National Education Association and the ACLU teaching in the public universities used to invite the KKK to hold rallies on campus?

The reason that the ACLU has no interest in this case is not that they are anti-Catholic, but because as has been pointed out in the two dismissals of this case already, since there was no punishment attached to the resolution, there was no attempt to suppress the Diocese freedom of religion and thus the Board of Supervisors was well within its rights to express their disagreement with Catholic teachings in this or any other area. Despite the hyperbole to be expected from a source like OneNewsNow, the ACLU does support the Catholic Church and individual Catholics when their rights are in fact being violated:

The ACLU defends the Bill of Rights. It defended the right of Nazis to march and the KKK, and the Christians. Their only client is the Bill of Rights. You must know, they even defended Rush Limbaugh.

"Since its founding in 1920, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has been the guardian of liberty, working in the nation's courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve individual working rights and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution and the laws of the United States."

It's quite obvious you have no interest in the facts, just propaganda.

They don't INVITE the KKK, they defend the right of the KKK to hold rallies under the Bill of Rights. Where do you get your information.
The ACLU as Klan members??? Where did you get that? Most ACLU haters happen to be right wingers and isn't the Klan right wing? They're certainly not lefties.

You're obviously lying. Doesn't it strike you as odd that you need to engage in lies and distortions to defend Jesus and your religion? Doesn't this indicate that you may not, in fact, be on the right side of things?

It does to me.

Wow. You're a fruitcake.

The ACLU also stood up for the free exercise rights of Christians, does that mean they are also a Christian organization?

You seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of what the ACLU does and why.

Although you are correct, and the posters who have a political agenda re: ACLU can't be bothered with facts.
However, it's important to let them know someone is on to them, and letting them spout their propaganda without opposition would be a mistake.

Sooner or later, they stop posting because they only have one "tune to sing." I have heard Crazy Ann Coulter making her millions badmouthing the ACLU. I don't think she believes a 10th of what she says; she's really a media whore.

The ACLU has had a long history of anti-Catholic behavior and is closely tied to the KKK. Associate Justice Hugo Black, an attorney for the ACLU, a lifelong KKK member, and a Freemason, was one of the most anti-Catholic bigots to be elevated to the Supreme Court.

Across the nation you will find state and local chapters of the ACLU promoting their anti-Catholic hate in the public schools and universities. A lot oif it still goes on. The ACLU is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Historically, the ACLU and KKK have been so intertwined they have been indistiguishable. Both groups draw their membership from
anti-Catholic protestant sects and we often see professors and teachers who are members of both organizations. Inseperable.

While Evangelicals complain about the ACLU today, it was the Evangelicals who financed and encouraged the ACLU's war against Catholic schools. Methodists, Presbyterians, Baptists, Disciples of Christ (who call themeslves Church Of Christ members today) were the primary groups funding the KKK and the ACLU, and joining the KKK and ACLU.

The historical record is there to see, but these groups are also closely monitored by a variety of Catholic organizations.

Thanks for the info. Many of the ACLU's lawyers no nothing about its fanatical past. It is presented to them in Law School as a freedom defending organization, and you'll see that the ACLU and its chapters control many of the government run Law Schools.

The ACLU defends the extreme anti-Federailist misinterpretation of the First Amendment not the interpretation of the First Amendment supported by the 78 percent Federalist Congress that ratified it.

The anti-Federalist side of the aisle has always been extremely anti-Catholic. So is the ACLU. That is the tradition the ACLU defends. Jeffersonian mob fantatics as they were called by the Federalists.

No one's afraid of an ACLU lawyer. My degrees are in history, political science (pre-law), philosohpy, computer science, and business administration.

Research is a favorite hobby.

So many conspiracy theories, so little time. Since its inception, the primary focus of the ACLU has been the defense of the freedom of speech and the reality of that is that in order to ensure that it is protected for all of us, sometimes you have to stand up for the right of free speech of extremely unpopular groups such as the Klan and others. In the government's attempts at curbing the Klan's more violent tendencies, actions have been taken which violate their and of course all of our right to free speech and the ACLU, though in a largely unpopular move, stepped up to defend them, just as they have the free speech rights of many other groups such as the Catholic Church, which I evidenced above. For you to warp their defense of the KKK into their being indistinguishable from them is nothing short of tin foil hat silly.
One last point, while Hugo Black had joined the Klan in 1923 (as had large percentage of the White male population in that era), he had submitted his resignation before his Senate election in 1926 and by 1930 severed all ties with them to the point that the Klan opposed him in his re-election bid in 1932:
http://www.americanheritage.com/articles/maga...
So no, he was not a lifelong member of the Klan. As for him being anti-catholic, that much was true as was just about every other Southern Evangelical Christian and a rather sizable percentage of the population as a whole. What can I say, it was an era when the Catholic Church wasn't the most popular of religious groups...

If all you really have to offer are unsubstantiated and easily proved as untrue paranoid conspiracy theories, save your breath, your brain clearly needs as much oxygen as it can get...

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Leo

Perhaps it's the fact that it's Christmas Eve and everyone is busy, but you can't help feeling that you're walking on eggshells around certain people. Their emotions are very close to the surface and could erupt at a moment's notice, perhaps in a storm of tears or a fit of pique. Calm them down and ask if you can do anything to help.
