The biggest issue here IMO is teachers expressing their opinions on subjects completely irrelvant to the class subject.

My daughter is currently taking an advanced English class at college and the students are required to read and write on books authored by militant Latinas. In these books they actually promote taking over Western USA by violence to rid the area of scu m sucking white people. Yes, the teacher is Latina and she talks on these subjects as well. What any of that has to do with English is beyond me. Are there no requirements for teachers to actually teach the correct subject?

Yes, why should we allow teachers to press their beliefs and viewpoints on captive audiences. I know it suits your liberal agenda, which is exactly the point.

I'm an agenda-filled liberal, and I agree that the history teacher overstepped his bounds. Even in science classes teaching evolution, the teacher should be aware that there might be some delusionally thinking Creationist students, but nevertheless present the facts without religious judgements.

The guy in the suit is out of line.

You shouldn't be surprised though about what reading your daughter might encounter in a literature class in college.

Is the class practical English or English Lit?

If the former and your daughter's teacher is spending more than a few minutes discussing the political objectives of the LaRaza types, then she is not doing her job as an Instructor of English. If she refuses to change, she should be summarily fired from her teaching position.

If the latter, there is the question of how your daughter's Latina teacher presents the subjects in the books. If she makes statements that support the overthrow of western USA, then she is guilty of encouraging sedition. If she refuses to change, she should be summarily fired from her teaching position.

However (again assuming English Lit), if she remains carefully neutral while challenging the students to critical thought on an interesting current events subject then she is doing what the best teachers do.

My girlfriend went though something like this there studying Witch trials and the teacher started going on about how the Bible was all bull.

My girlfriend is a Christian and didn't say anything when the teacher was going off, but I think if the ones in the class can't state how they see it the teacher don't need to start stating how she sees it.

You know follow the same set rules.

when I was growing up I hated Sunday school, that "teacher" was no doubt a christian of some sort, so those beliefs must have been her own, she pressed her viewpoints on me a captive audiance member. And what is this "cold war" between christians and liberals? I don't get why people seem to lump everyone up into liberal or christian groups, like they are the only options.

You are right. When it comes to signing up with the religion that murdered over 100000 innocent woman for being witches and werewolves, I don't get it. Just keep anyone who believes in such crap away from the kids. Like that fundamentalist preacher on the news, keep away from the kids.

The liberal public education monopoly has a 75% failure rate in some school districts yet it has time to spread it's anti-religious propaganda?

The lib public teachers have become the lowest of the low in our society.

A link to the historical facts or a link to the fundamentalist story that is on the news every day? Maybe they don't show news like that on Fox but it's on every other channel that talks about real news and not Christian, Right wing propaganda. It's called reality. Try it sometime.

Be sure not to type in Evangelical gets busted because it will bring up the story about the head of the evangelical church being busted for gay strippers. The link you want is about a fundamentalist busted for child molestation. Not the Christian preacher who crossed state lines to molest little girls or the Christian Sunday school teacher who raped and murdered a little girl. Be sure you get the one where the preacher get's the underage girl pregnant. I can see why you would want a link. Hopefully you won't have to dig through the overwhelming and statistically hidden fact that Christians tend to like the kiddies. I'm guessing this instance of religious people hurting children should be right on top of all the others since it is the most recent.

the kid needs to pull up the big boy panties and get over it. This is ridiculous. Especially in an AP class where kids are exected to be able to handle adult sittuations, debates, discussions, etc. Is the kid going to cry when someone on the street tells him Jesus is dead?

Boo-hooo .. get over it

Monopoly? Wow. We all know that real power is in the hands of the poor and the teachers. Not in the hands of old oil money and Christian baby boomers. Those darn liberals with their crazy "help other people" notions. Shame on them for not having their life handed to them for not having the right last name. Those monsters want facts taught to our children. They want the US to rise above third world nations on health care and schools. Shame on them. Shame on them!

Daily Horoscope for November 28

Sagittarius

You may want to do things on the spur of the moment, but pay attention to detail if you want to avoid unexpected expenses. Even a last-minute decision to go for a bike ride could end up with an injury or a flat tire, so try to think your actions out carefully. Once unpredictable Uranus settles down, you can enjoy a more relaxed attitude towards life. This evening you can let your hair down.
