"was an uprising by members of the Chinese Society of Right and Harmonious Fists against foreign influence in areas such as trade, politics, religion and technology" "diplomats, foreign civilians, soldiers and some Chinese Christians " "The Boxer activity began in Shandong province in March 1898, in response to German occupation of the Tsingtao region, the British seizing of Weihai city ( a trading center), and the failure of the Imperial court's Self-Strengthening Movement." Still looking for that evil Christian connection that overpowered the little man, but I dont see it. I see references to Christians or religion in general, but nothing more. |
