FRESNO, California (Reuters) - A conservative California diocese appears poised to leave the U.S. Episcopal Church on Saturday in a historic split following years of disagreement over gays, women and other issues.
"This is the first time this has ever happened in Anglican history, at least in American Anglican history," Bishop John-David Schofield of the Diocese of San Joaquin told reporters on Friday. "This is the first time, I believe, that a diocese has finally said 'enough' in terms of the liberal theology of the Episcopal Church." Read more
