This is good. However, I've heard all the rebuttals to these answers and in the end it comes down to this; is the bible from God? If it is, then all that is in it is true. That's all I need.......as a believer. If I'm an atheist, I'll find any way around these answers. As it is written, we don't come with excellency of speech or claiming to know anything in man's wisdom but in God's wisdom. Unless the Holy Spirit moves in a person, they will not understand, nor can they understand, that which is of our Lord Jesus Christ.

God has given human beings the freedom of choosing to believe or disbelieve. I believe that Jesus rose from the dead and is indeed the Son of God.
One day the Bible says everyone will know that God is real.

Rom 14:11 For it is written,[As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Phl 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of [things] in heaven, and [things] in earth, and [things] under the earth; Phl 2:11 And [that] every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ [is] Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

There's just one major problem with the article, which is, indeed, the main problem with biblical literalism in general...(and by the way, I'm a Christian, and an ordained minister to boot... but...) the problem is that the entire thesis of the article is based on a series of "facts", which are not "facts" at all. One cannot call them "facts" simply because they are recorded in the Bible.

Am I saying that the narratives aren't true? No. I'm saying that you cannot use the words of a sacred book to prove true OTHER words in that same sacred book. You can't say "This is a fact, because later, the Bible confirms this to be true." That's the same fallacy of logic that says "I believe the Bible is inspired because the Bible says it's inspired." Circular logic doesn't work. One must have a deeper basis for believing what they believe.

Myself, I think there are plenty of reasons to believe, reasons that stand independent of what a book says. As one poster mentioned, it really comes down to a matter of faith. But faith must also be tempered by reason. Even though one sees many church signs claiming that reason is the greatest enemy of faith, just because it's on a church sign doesn't mean it's true. As my alma mater, Eastern Nazarene College, put it...(and I'm paraphrasing a bit here... there is no conflict between the best in faith and the best in reason.

Basically... facts or faith? I choose faith... but not blind faith.

Just because I wear two stripes doen't mean I believe I am the Second Comming of Jesus Christ. In addition, I get the impression God doesn't want us believing in reincarnation.

There is a jursprudence tug-a-war in New York. It is the Citizen of the United States' responsibility to back the State sanctioned officers of the Law. We are not a federal government, we are a union of mansions that empowers a federal government.

for the 1002nd time...Jesus most certainly rose from the dead, why would his disciples face death each day in upholding the teachings of Christ and hailing his resurection as the ultimate hope of christianity if it didnt happen...not many people would face death even for something they believed in..and it would be ludicrous to think people would face death for a lie...no these men our early church fathers faced death and indeed were killed for total trust, belief and faith in our risen lord.....to me if i needed any evidence at all this would only add to my faith...God bless
