Naperville home sales for the month of July rose in volume by 11.5% when compared to last year, while the median sale price decreased by 3.4% from $387,250 to $374,000. The number of Single Family homes sales rose by 13.5%, while the median sale price decreased by 5.3% from $435,000 to $412,000. Comment?

Mortgage closing costs average $1,833 in Missouri and $1,847 in Illinois, about the middle of the pack in the U.S. Nationwide, closing costs declined 7 percent over the last year and average $1,847 on a $200,000 loan, according to Bankrate.com. Closing costs are the highest in Hawaii at $2,163, followed by New Jersey , Connecticut , West Virginia and Arizona . Comment?

Former UBS Group AG and Citigroup Inc. trader Tom Hayes, the first person to stand trial for manipulating Libor, was sentenced to 14 years in prison after being found guilty of conspiracy to rig the benchmark rate. After a week of deliberations, jurors unanimously found that Hayes, 35, worked with traders and brokers to game the London interbank offered rate to benefit his own trading positions. Comment?

Bunte is scheduled for sentencing Nov. 2. He was charged last September with fraudulently taking $17.9 million from National City and PNC's Louisville offices by turning in funding requests for mortgage loans that didn't exist, The Courier-Journal reports. The indictment said that Bunte, through his Trust One Mortgage company, submitted 43 fake funding requests on its warehouse line of credit to the banks, the story said. Comment?
