In his February 2015 State of the City address, Middletown Mayor Joe DeStefano said that the Heritage Trail, Orange County's popular walking, running and biking path, “has been in existence for 21 years and not one step has been taken on it in the City of Middletown.” But after trail advocates got a briefing Thursday from the county's Parks and Recreation Commissioner on plans to extend the trail to Middletown, DeStefano was happily outlining plans for trail-related projects in Middletown, including linking it with a planned transportation hub and skateboard park; even running it through a 16-foot-wide passage in the old Woolworth building on North Street.
