The city of Bethel has been overcharging sales taxes on home sales for 13 years because of a just-discovered clerical error, Mayor Richard Robb announced this week. The mistake only impacted the tax on properties that sold for more than $275,000, about 30 percent of overall sales since 2002, according to city attorney Patty Burley. Comment?
