As the unemployment rate remains low, Tennessee's housing market continued to perform well in the second quarter of 2016, according to the latest statewide report from the Middle Tennessee State University Business and Economic Research Center. The company that handles relocation costs for the federal government now says receipts are not always required for employees to be reimbursed. Brookfield Global Relocation Services released a statement almost 24 hours after The Globe and Mail published a story quoting the senior vice-president of government services, who said employees are briefed on expenses and required to submit their own receipts, including for a category called "personalized cash payout." The percentage of Springs-are loans that were in some stage of foreclosure dipped to 0.42 percent in July, down from a rate of 0.63 percent a year earlier, according to a report Wednesday by CoreLogic, a California-based housing data firm that tracks foreclosure data from around the country. Not only has the Springs' foreclosure rate fallen from last year, but, perhaps more importantly, it's down significantly from the years just after the recession. Comment?

A California man was sentenced in New Haven on Wednesday in connection with using a New London-based marketing firm for advertising mortgage modification services. John Vescera, 60, of Dana Point, Calif., was sentenced to 12 months and one day in prison for false advertising and misuse of a government seal. Comment?
