Homes owned by single men have a 10% greater value, and appreciate 16% more than homes owned by single women, according to an analysis released today by RealtyTrac , a source for comprehensive housing data. The analysis was based on over 2.1 million single-family homes owned by either single men or single women, based on public record tax assessor data from RealtyTrac. Comment?

Single-family home sales jumped 24 percent in May from a year earlier, according to a Thursday report, to the highest level seen for any May since the housing boom market of 2007. New York City is taking a novel approach to addressing enduring pockets of the home foreclosure crisis by buying long-unpaid mortgages, with plans to help owners stay in their homes if possible or use the properties as affordable housing if not, officials say.
