The city council has matched a grant from the Midwest City Memorial Hospital Board of Grantors to fund a market study and redevelopment plan for Heritage Park Mall at a total cost of $55,000. The study will seek input from "dead mall" specialists for a future for the mall, built in the 1970s and once the city's prime retail and sales tax collection point. Comment?

A state lawsuit filed earlier this month against automaker Volkswagen AG over deceptive advertising and diesel car sales won't be affected by a $15.3 billion settlement announced by federal agencies, Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt said. Pruitt filed a lawsuit June 15 against the German automaker in Oklahoma County district court, alleging it misled consumers over the attributes of its "clean diesel" line of engines. Comment?

PERSIMMON has underlined its confidence in the Scottish house building market, declaring that the Bank of England's decision to cut interest rates after the Brexit vote will ensure that competitive mortgage deals will continue to be available to home buyers north of the Border.
