PORTSMOUTH – Residential real estate sales in Portsmouth during the spring were better than they were last spring and better than during the winter. Sales in March, April and May of single-family homes and residential condominiums totaled $38.4 million, a 23.2 percent increase over $31.2 million in sales from the same period last year, according to an analysis of transactions on file with the Rockingham County Register of Deeds. PORTSMOUTH – Single-family home sales sagged, but residential condominium sales soared during the winter months of December, January and February compared to the same period last year. According to an analysis of deeds filed with the Rockingham County Register of Deeds during December 2014 and January and February of 2015, home sales were down 10 percent. Comment?

Six years after the financial crisis, New Hampshire still has three times as many home foreclosures as occurred before the Great Recession, although the number is fallen sharply in part because an unusual state program has helped almost 750 households through their mortgage troubles. "Could consumers do a lot of this on their own?
