March 10 -- CHEYENNE -- Meetings are being held around Laramie County this week to give the public a chance to voice their concerns about local housing availability and affordability. Referred to as listening sessions, the meetings are part of an ongoing assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the county's housing market. Comment?

In a press conference last week, Fed Chair Janet Yellen was asked about negative interest rates. Yellen dismissed the possibility, but also said if "we found ourselves with a weak economy that needed additional stimulus, we would look at all of our available tools, and [a negative rate] would be something that we would evaluate in that kind of context." Comment?

Responses to David Cameron's party conference speech were united in raising concern that very few people would be able to become what he called 'Generation Buy'. Many welcomed the renewed focus on housing and the attempt to widen home ownership, but the spectrum of views from union leaders to property consultants questioned how possible it would be. Comment?
