PARAGOULD, AR - The Paragould city council approved annexing 40 acres of land into city limits Monday night. The land, located along Highway 49 South, was surrounded by city limits on three sides but was never actually in Paragould. Comment?

The number of houses sold in Arkansas in the first half of 2016 surpassed pre-recession totals, according to statistics released Thursday by the Arkansas Realtors Association. For the first half of the year, 16,370 homes were sold in the 43-county area surveyed by the association. Comment?

Arkansas's landlord tenant laws work well for honest landlords, too well for slumlords, and they don't work at all for honest tenants. Disputes between landlords and tenants are inevitable, and Arkansas needs laws that capture the worst players on both sides without abandoning good tenants or overburdening good landlords. Comment?

Most New Zealand farmers are broadly happy with the relationship with their banks although more report feeling "undue pressure," according to a Federated Farmers survey. The survey shows 80% of all farmers and 78% of dairy farmers were "very satisfied" or "satisfied" with their banks and reported an improvement in the quality of communications from their bank, the farmer lobby group said in a joint statement with the New Zealand Bankers' Association Sharemilkers were most likely to feel the strain of their banking relationship, with 15.8% saying they experienced "undue pressure" in relation to overdrafts and 22.2% saying they felt pressure over mortgages.
