Four hundred and eighty-six homes were sold in York County during July, according to a report released Monday by the Realtors Association of York and Adams Counties. To date, 2,189 homes have been sold during 2015 in the county, 14 percent more than the 2,466 sold by this time last year. Comment?

The $4.75 million Peach Bottom Township property features 375 acres with a private gate, more than a half-mile of river frontage, a private hunting cabin and a 7,300-square-foot, two-story colonial house with four bedrooms and four full bathrooms. Applications for U.S. home mortgages rose last week as both purchase and refinancing applications jumped, an industry group said on Wednesday. The Mortgage Bankers Association said its seasonally adjusted index of mortgage application activity, which includes both refinancing and home purchase demand, climbed 11.3 percent in the week ended Aug. 28. The MBA's seasonally adjusted index of refinancing applications rose 16.8 percent to its highest level since April, while the gauge of loan requests for home purchases, a leading indicator of home sales, rose 4.1 percent to its highest level since July.
