Median home prices in Illinois rose 6.3 percent in February over previous-year levels while statewide home sales decreased 2.8 percent for the same period, according to Illinois Realtors. Statewide home sales, which include single-family homes and condominiums, totaled 8,461 homes sold in February, down 2.8 percent from 8,704 sales in the same month last year. Comment?

According to the Champaign County Association of Realtors, 135 homes were sold, up 5.5 percent from 128 a year ago, the best year in a decade. CCAR President Jim Waller said the increase in sales is indicative of the higher consumer confidence, wages and stock prices. Comment?

Premier Kathleen Wynne has said her government is working on a "comprehensive set of plans," to deal with rising home prices in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area , as well as rising rental rates. There is a "suite of options" available to the province, but the province must be careful to avoid "unintended consequences" from those measures, he said. Comment?
