Americans purchased homes in March at the fastest pace in more than a decade, a strong start to the traditional spring buying season. Closed home sales in the Twin Cities metropolitan area grew in March, while more buyers got under contract and as the supply of homes for sale remains tight. March saw 4,306 closings, up from 2,696 last month in the 13-county Twin Cities metropolitan area, according to data released Monday by the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors . Comment?

A major Minneapolis landlord, who faced a 90-day jail sentence for failing to produce documents in a long-running housing court case, has gotten a temporary reprieve. Stephen Frenz, who was found in contempt of court last month, showed up with a stack of documents during a court hearing on Monday, but said some of the material included private information that was not relevant to the case and he should not have to disclose it. After big pushback to proposed regulations last year , the City Council is ready to consider a revised set of rules for people who rent short-term via Airbnb , VRBO , and similar services, as well as potential bed-and-breakfast operators. The legislation would establish a new definition for "short-term rental" as a type of lodging use and establish standards for short-term rentals, including a limit on the number of dwelling units that an individual may operate as a short-term rental.
