Homes sales volume in the region was up 2% in March, while the median price of homes increased by 5% when compared to March 2015, according to a news release from the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors . Last month, 1,469 homes sold at a median price of $233,097 in the Lowcountry region of Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester and Orangeburg counties, as well as some outlying areas, the association said. Lowcountry counties were below the national percentage for the average annual gross rental yield during the first quarter, according to a report from real estate data company RealtyTrac . The report ranked the best markets for buying single-family residential rental properties by determining the potential annual gross rental yield, which is the annualized monthly rent divided by the median home price. The former Charleston Naval Hospital is going into foreclosure, dashing North Charleston's hopes that the city's struggling south end would soon be revitalized by a redevelopment project whose investors include Donald Trump Jr. Plans to renovate the long-vacant 10-story building, which is the tallest in the city, were announced with much fanfare in 2012 by Mayor Keith Summey. The city bought the building for $2 million that year at a federal government auction and later sold it to developers for $5 million. Comment?

The median price of homes sold in the Lowcountry last month was up 11% compared with February 2015, according to a news release from the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors . In February, 1,088 homes sold at a median price of $236,484, up from 1,012 homes sold at a median of $212,500 in the previous February, the news release said. Comment?
