U.S. foreclosure activity declined in September, reaching the lowest number of properties with a foreclosure filing since July 2006: 106,866. That's down 9% from August and down 19% from last September, according to the monthly RealtyTrac foreclosure report, marking the 48th consecutive month of year-over-year declines in the foreclosure rate. More companies in Ohio and surrounding states are choosing to replace permanent low-skill employees with temporary workers to save on costs, recruiting professionals told the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland for its latest summary of economic conditions. The Fed's Beige Book report released Wednesday notes several recruiters mentioned the trend was seen over the six-week period ended Oct. 6. The seventh of eight reports for the year, based on anecdotal information collected from industry contacts, does little else to explain the trend. Comment?
