Thursday evening's Sussex County Planning and Zoning meeting in Georgetown attracted a full house of homeowners eagerly waiting to express their concerns about the development proposed by Ocean Atlantic, LLC. The Schell Brothers, a well-known luxury home developer in Delaware, want to build a 147-unit 55 and older housing complex behind Tulip Dr. in Lewes, right along Coastal Highway and adjacent to the Villages of Five Points . But opposed neighbors are saying the site where they want to build currently has only one entrance and exit along Route 1. Kaya Elliot lives on Tulip Dr. in a community known as Dutch Acres. Comment?

For the fourth consecutive year, data compiled and released by the Sussex County Association of Realtors earlier this month indicates a period of sustained growth in the region's real estate markets. Buoyed by a vibrant and dynamic coastal market, the numbers indicate more than $1.45 billion in southern Delaware real estate changed hands in 2014, which is an 8 percent increase over the previous year. First State consumers who are eligible for a direct payment as part of the $7 million settlement Attorney General Beau Biden reached with Ocwen Financial should soon be receiving their checks, Biden announced earlier this week. More than 200 Delawareans will receive checks of approximately $1,200 under the settlement, which Biden, 48 other attorneys general and the federal government reached with Ocwen in December 2013 to resolve allegations that the financial institution's misconduct contributed to the housing crisis.
