The biggest Wall Street banks have used their ownership of metal warehouses, oil tankers and other commodities businesses to gain unfair trading advantages and dominate markets, according to a U.S. Senate investigation. British bank Barclays said it had seen an increase in complaints relating to its banking services and mortgages in the third quarter of the year, although complaints about the mis-selling of loan insurance declined.
