The executive director of the Tennessee Housing Development Agency says the state's housing finance agency is on pace to close 36 percent more loans in 2015 than it did last year. During a visit to Memphis Thursday, June 25, Ralph Perrey said that THDA's business is up because of an improving economy and the agency's efforts to better market the mortgage loans it buys from lenders. After nearly 10 years of strong growth in the Rutherford County market, First National Bank of McMinnville will officially change its name to First National of Middle Tennessee on July 1. First National operates a full service bank branch on Gateway Boulevard in a modern facility first opened in 2011 and significantly expanded in 2014. The branch has been operating in Rutherford County since 2007. Comment?

The CEOs of government-backed mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are getting large raises, to about $4 million a year, as the government relaxes rules that were imposed on the companies after they suffered big losses and were bailed out. In forms filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday, the companies disclosed that Fannie Mae CEO Timothy Mayopoulous and Freddie Mac CEO Donald Layton will get annual base salaries of $750,000 each, $2.1 million in fixed deferred compensation and $1.2 million in at-risk deferred salary. U.S. businesses added jobs at a robust pace in June, a private survey found, evidence that rising consumer spending and a healthy housing market are supporting more hiring. Payroll processor ADP said Wednesday that businesses added 237,000 jobs last month, up from 203,000 in May. That is the most since December, according to the ADP's tally. Comment?
