    The bridge, scheduled to open later this year, will dramatically cut journey times and push up Macau house prices as Hong Kong's start to cool, say experts The opening of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge later this year could further narrow the gap between Hong Kong and Macau house prices, both of which recently rose to an all-time high, according to property experts. Raymond Kwok, associate director at Guo Du Real Estate, said that once vehicles start crossing the bridge the residential property market in Macau could experience growth of anywhere between 5 per cent and 10 per cent.

  • Aveo boosts FY profit as unit sales lift

    Aged accommodation provider Aveo Group has lifted full-year profits 44 per cent as a major property sale and asset revaluations boosted earnings from new unit sales. Aveo has posted net profit of $365.1 million for the year to June 30 and revenue of $425.3 million, down 5.4 per cent, with a final dividend of nine cents, unfranked.

    Royal Bank of Scotland has agreed to pay $4.9bn to settle a US Department of Justice probe into the mis-selling of mortgage-backed securities before the financial crisis. The penalty, which was announced in principle in May, is the largest imposed by the DoJ for financial crisis-era misconduct.

  • Iag Fy profit slips, set to return capital
