On Wednesday afternoon, a select group of top real estate agents walked through the renovated Philip Johnson home at 10210 Strait Lane in Big D. It has just hit the market for $27.5 million, and David Nichols of Allie Beth Allman's Mathews-Nichols Group has the listing. The New York Times called the distinctive white contemporary with arches on "almost campy" and said it was the "the most strangely fascinating thing" Johnson ever created. Comment?

The paper empire comprising Douglas T. "Chase" Fonteno's vast adverse-possession real estate acquisitions is highly complex. His strategy of filing mountains of deed claims to other people's houses, then selling those houses to unsuspecting buyers, defies comprehension. Comment?

Severiano Martinez purchased this adverse-possession house at 1023 Betterton Circle from a man he identified as Douglas T. "Chase" Fonteno, unaware that the house wasn't Fonteno's to sell. Attorney General Greg Abbott's office, for example, ordered a raid on the offices of a voter-registration group in Houston, then seized and destroyed documents even though the group had broken no laws. I am a believer in dreams, and when I had a waking dream a few days after the S&P downgrade of our national debt of President Obama packing his bags and leaving the White House, I was saddened for him and for my country. But the great thing about dreams, if they are truly predictive, is that they give you time to change the future, and I'm going to try doing that with this advice. Comment?

Chesapeake Energy is facing a possible class-action lawsuit, which claims it has cheated North Texas landowners of at least $100 million by pumping gas from properties that had gone through foreclosure, invalidating the oil and gas leases. Chesapeake continued to tap reserves beneath the various properties in Johnson and Tarrant counties even after the Oklahoma City-based energy giant discovered it had troubled leases following the economic downturn in 2008, choosing instead to "ignore the problem," the lawsuit asserts. NEW YORK -- If you want to know which way home prices are likely to head in 2015, check out what they're doing this year -- especially in Minneapolis, a Trulia " Nationwide home prices in any one year are typically a pretty good guide of what's going to happen next year, and only Minneapolis did better than the national numbers in [predicting the future]," says economist Jed Kolko of Trulia.com, a property-listing site that analyzed some 34 years of data to see which markets best forecast coming market moves. Trulia looked at what housing prices did nationally and in the 100 largest U.S. metro areas between 1980 and early 2014 to see which markets serve as good bellwethers for where home values are heading. Renting an apartment near a BART station in Berkeley is still relatively affordable by Bay Area standards, according to the fledgling mobile apartment finder Rad-Pad -- that is, if you can find one. The median rent for a one-bedroom apartment within a half-mile of the Berkeley and North Berkeley BART stations is $2,050, according to Rad-Pad, which describes itself as an online real estate marketplace and mobile app that lists rental properties across the country and also allows renters to pay their rent through the platform, according to Kyle Austin, RadPad's publicist.
