Sales are brisk across the Inland area for homes, but prices climbed again in March, making mortgages harder to get for area buyers. In a CoreLogic report out today, the 6,685 homes sold in Riverside and San Bernardino counties is up about 8 points from the same month last year. Comment?

A decline in new listings plus robust home sales dropped the California Association of Realtors unsold inventory index to 3 percent in March. Sales of existing homes in the Inland Empire rose 8.5 percent in the last year, and prices for those homes rose by almost the same percentage, 8.3 percent. Comment?

CVB has a remarkable low-cost deposit base and a strong commercial lending franchise in Southern California, not to mention an uncommonly efficient expense structure and a very healthy balance sheet.
