I am a believer in dreams, and when I had a waking dream a few days after the S&P downgrade of our national debt of President Obama packing his bags and leaving the White House, I was saddened for him and for my country. But the great thing about dreams, if they are truly predictive, is that they give you time to change the future, and I'm going to try doing that with this advice. Comment?

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that Ohio has joined a $470 million joint state-federal settlement with mortgage lender and servicer HSBC to address mortgage origination, servicing, and foreclosure abuses. The settlement provides direct payments to nearly 20,000 borrowers nationwide for past foreclosure abuses, loan modifications and other relief for borrowers in need of assistance, rigorous mortgage servicing standards, and grants oversight authority to an independent monitor. New Hampshire is part of a $470 million multi-state settlement with banking giant HSBC over mortgage lending and foreclosure abuses. The Justice Department says the agreement requires the bank to pay $100 million to the federal government and to an escrow fund administered by the states to make payments to borrowers who lost their homes to foreclosure between 2008 and 2012.
