The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department will hold a public involvement meeting tonight at Conway Christian School to discuss plans to improve a portion of Dave Ward Drive that runs along the proposed site of the Lewis Crossing Shopping Center. Plans are to widen about a mile of roadway from two to four lanes extending from Interstate 40 to East German Lane - a portion of highway north of the proposed Lewis Crossing Shopping Center. Wednesday the 33-year-old Arron Lewis and his estranged wife, Crystal Lowery, 41 , made their first Pulaski County Circuit Court appearance to answer charges that they kidnapped and killed Beverly Lownes Carter in September. Over his client's objections, Arron Michael Lewis' lawyer announced his intentions Wednesday to explore an insanity defense to capital murder and kidnapping charges in the death of a real estate agent who disappeared after going out to show a home. Home Bancshares, Inc., the parent company of Centennial Bank, headquartered in downtown Conway, has appointed Thomas J. Longe to its board of directors. Longe is president and chief operating officer of the Trianon Companies in Naples, Florida, which specializes in the development of "class A office," retail shopping center and independent hospitality properties, its website says. Consumers in Arkansas report having less existing mortgage debt and higher overall savings rates than their neighbors in Missouri and Oklahoma, according to the third phase of the Arvest Bank's Consumer Sentiment Survey completed for the fall of 2014.
