The period from Thanksgiving to Super Bowl Sunday is not a peak time for buying and selling houses, or such is the conventional wisdom. Yet, houses are listed, shown, sold, and closed in that nearly 10-week stretch, and that's the case this year, one in which the market is not yet in full-steam-ahead recovery from its prolonged downturn. Erik David Barber, a 2001 Clearview Regional High School grad who once earned the title of "Mr. Clearview," continues to display almost uncanny versatility in his life's pursuits. Back home in Gloucester County to participate in a close friend's wedding last weekend, Barber's latest gig is in the Naples area of Florida's West Coast, a decidedly high-rent district where he and his new bride reside. Six South Jersey residents were indicted in federal court on Tuesday in connection with a multi-million dollar mortgage fraud scheme that took advantage of financially-vulnerable homeowners. Silver Buckman, 36, of Cherry Hill and her parents, Vincent Foxworth, 69, and Cynthia Foxworth, 63, of Washington Township, Gloucester County were charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud and wire fraud, along with Danette Thomas, 52 of Pennsauken, Byron White, 44 of Pennsauken, and Franklin Busi, 46, of Sicklerville. Driven by multifamily projects, home building in New Jersey rose in November, putting the state's new-home production on track for its strongest year since 2006. Through November, builders have obtained permits for 25,451 housing units, about 15 percent ahead of the same period last year. Comment?

Drivers could get the option to use their smartphone to show their driver's license, instead of a paper license, under a bill to be proposed by State Senator Thomas Kean Jr. to have state motor vehicle officials study it. It's appropriate to look at it and see if it protects drivers security, adds to convenience and enhanced efficiency," Senator Thomas Kean Jr. A state senator is set to propose legislation directing the state Motor Vehicle Commission to conduct a study on whether New Jersey should give drivers the option to show a license on their smartphone. While overall foreclosure activity overall continued its now years-long decline from housing crisis peaks there was a significant year-over-year increase in foreclosure starts. RealtyTrac says in its November U.S. Foreclosure Market Report that 55,906 properties started the foreclosure process during the month, a decrease of 1 percent from October but a 6 percent increase from a year ago. Homeless after Superstorm Sandy flooded the Ortley Beach condominium she was renting, Tango, 61, relied on assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to pay her rent and living expenses at an apartment she rented in Howell. But the October letter demanded repayment of $15,500 - and threatened to garnish her monthly Social Security disability check if she didn't pay it back. Comment?
