A Wykoff man has been ordered to repay more than $66,000 in a case that accuses him, his son and his daughter-in-law of bilking another family member out of nearly $400,000. Donald George Polikowsky, 64, pleaded guilty in April in Olmsted County District Court to one count of aiding and abetting the financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult, a felony. Comment?

For anyone buying or selling a home in Minnesota, heads up: The Minnesota REALTORS Forms Committee has revised the Inspection Contingency form, which is typically what gets used when writing an offer on a home. The change took effect yesterday, August 1. If you're a first-time home buyer, the whole process of signing a bazillion forms will be a foreign process to start with, so this change probably won't mean much to you. Comment?

Wall Street moved lower ahead of Friday's speech by Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen who might offer clues on the timing for an interest rate hike by the central bank-which some Fed officials have recently suggested could be as early as next month. "The rhetoric we've gotten from the Fed over the past week from numerous Fed officials ... has reminded the market that the Fed can raise rates at any meeting," Gary Pollack, head of fixed-income trading at Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management in New York. The numbers for August home sales in Metro Vancouver won't come out for another two weeks, but realtors in the market admit this month has been a little slower than usual.
