A real estate industry group is blaming tight inventory for an 8 percent drop in area home sales in January. The Greater Capital Association of Realtors said inventory fell 21 percent over the past year to just 5,096 homes,a five-month supply. Comment?

Amsterdam Industrial Develop-ment Agency board members are seeking to contract with Berkshire Hathaway Blake Realtors to serve as its real estate agent for 44-46 Main St. The AIDA Board of Directors approved Thursday evening entering into an agreement with Berkshire Hathaway to market the agency's downtown property at 44-46 Main St. to potential tenants, with the three-story building having one commercial unit vacancy. The proposed agreement would begin Feb. 1 and last one year, with Berkshire Hathaway charging the agency one month rental fee for each rental contract completed for the property. Comment?

Sales of new and existing single-family homes dipped in September after a strong run earlier in the year, the Greater Capital Association of Realtors reported. Nearly a year after launching a pilot program designed to unmask hidden buyers of luxury real estate, the Treasury Department extended the regulation on Thursday in a continued effort to crack down on money laundering.
