Developer P.J. Simao has settled a foreclosure action with HSBC Bank USA over the land that constitutes Ives Hill Country Club's golf course. The agreement was made as part of a global settlement that also resolved litigation stemming from judgments obtained by the bank in 2009 against DealMaker Auto Group, of which Mr. Simao is a principal. New York is bringing extra help to homeowners facing foreclosure this week. Workers from the state Department of Financial Services will be in Watertown Tuesday and Oswego Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oswego County has a foreclosure rate of one in every 2,231 housing units. Comment?

The number of homes sold in Jefferson County climbed slightly from 211 to 212 units, according to the Jefferson-Lewis Board of Realtors. Lewis County home sales increased by 14 units, or 34 percent, from 41 to 55 over the same period; in St. Lawrence County, sales climbed by 13 units, or 9 percent, from 145 to 158, according to the county Board of Realtors.
