Inmates in Nevada's prison system are preparing for life without cigarettes as they prepare for a smoking ban to take effect July 1. The majority of other states already ban tobacco use in prisons.

Farmington-based Carrier Corp.'s Noresco division has landed a major contract from the Nevada Department of Corrections to undertake energy saving improvements in four buildings, company officials said.
