Recibimos la noticia en torno a la suspensión y / o posposición de los despidos con reservas, pero a la misma vez, con regocijo. La lucha de todos y todas en la calle ya rinde frutos y da muestra de que la firmeza, consistencia y compromiso de un pueblo unido son el camino para lograr el Puerto Rico que queremos.

Durante semanas el gobernador, y por ende, todo su equipo de trabajo, han aparentado ignorar los reclamos del pueblo y han querido proyectar la firmeza de un malintencionado plan. Esta acción de la Junta de Reestructuración y Estabilización Fiscal (JREF) demuestra que cuando el Pueblo se une en su justo reclamo los gobiernos tienen que ceder y acatar la voluntad del colectivo.

La Coalición le informa al gobierno de Puerto Rico que éste es el primero de muchos triunfos que tendrá nuestro esfuerzo. Aún son muchos los frentes, y por eso, ratificamos la convocatoria al pueblo a una Huelga General. Seguimos en pie de lucha hasta que estos despidos se eliminen totalmente y se comience un diálogo para utilizar todas las avenidas y alternativas posibles para conjurar la situación difícil por la que atraviesa nuestro País.

Esta Coalición exige que se atiendan los reclamos de los diferentes sectores que la componen entorno a las comunidades, el Corredor Ecológico del Noreste, la Ley de Permisos, las APP’s, el Colegio de Abogados, la des configuración del tercer sector, y tantos otros disloques que ha producido este gobierno, reflejados en la Declaración de Principios de la Coalición Todo Puerto Rico por Puerto Rico, aprobada en Asamblea de Pueblo el pasado 5 de junio. Insistimos en que seguimos con todos nuestros planes de acción y propuestas hasta que no haya un diálogo directo con el gobierno.

We received the news about the suspension and / or postponement of the dismissals with reservations, but at the same time, with glee. The struggle of everyone on the street and works well and is demonstrating that firmness, consistency and commitment to a united people is the way to Puerto Rico to achieve what we want.

For weeks the governor, and therefore, all his staff, have pretended to ignore the demands of the people and have wanted to project the strength of a malicious plan. This action of the Board of Restructuring and Fiscal Stabilization (JREF) shows that when people join together in their rightful claim governments have to give in and accept the will of the collective.

The Coalition informs the government of Puerto Rico that this is the first of many victories to be our effort. Even many fronts, and therefore, we endorse the call for the people to a General Strike. We remain on a war footing until these redundancies are eliminated completely and start a dialogue to use all possible avenues and alternatives to ward off the difficult situation being experienced by our country.

The Coalition demands that meet the demands of different sectors that comprise the communities around the Northeast Ecological Corridor, Leave Act, the PPP's, the Bar Association, the de configuration of the third sector, and many other dislocations that this government has been reflected in the Declaration of Principles of the Coalition All of Puerto Rico by Puerto Rico, People's Assembly approved on 5 June. We insist that we continue with our action plans and proposals until there is a direct dialogue with the government.

Puerto Rico is standing, Puerto Rico is in the street!

two very important words are missing-"sustainable development".

According to our govt. any "large-scale development" will be evaluated.

As posted, it is (how we say in Spanish) a "pre paganda" (pre paid), not serious, article
(prepared by specific interest groups), not worth a reaction.

Have the "common sense" to stay on topic!

Personally, I don't think that the area should be developed. Puerto Rico needs to preserve as much open space as possible. They should clean up the old abandoned refinery on the south coast and allow development there. That site is such an eyesore.

Aunque fueron traídos a Puerto Rico, durante los años 30, para experimentos científicos, los monos rhesus son criaturas sensibles, capaces de sufrimiento como la especie humana, con la que comparten más del 97% de similitud genética.

Pueden llorar amargamente la muerte de un compañero, igual que nosotros lo hacemos por un ser cuando nos es querido. Los que han logrado escapar del cautiverio se han reproducido y dispersado en diversas regiones de la Isla. Hoy, el Departamento de Recursos Naturales los estigmatiza como plaga de animales extraños, dañinos y peligrosos. Propagando un discurso de histeria, esta agencia de gobierno hace un llamado a matarlos.

Según estudios primatológicos, este pariente genético de la India es un animal social, capaz de adaptarse a las zonas urbanas y tambien de captar engaños. Ahí la dificultad de apresarlo, que tanto molesta a las autoridades. El gobierno inútilmente invierte millones de dólares para captura y exterminio, porque “causan pérdidas de $300,000 al año” a los agricultores. Balearlos es la alternativa del DRN.

Según informes publicados, algunos padecen problemas de salud o portan alguna enfermedad o infección contagiosa, como hepatitis o herpes. El DRN alerta:“los monos rhesus son un problema de salud pública” y así justifica la orden de exterminio. Pero si vergonzosa e indignante resulta la manía de estigmatizar a un ser como “peligroso” por su condición de salud, más aún lo es la práctica de matarlo por ser portador de alguna enfermedad.

Poniendo entre paréntesis las reservas éticas por la posible crueldad vinculada a ciertos usos de animales vivos en laboratorios, el descubrimiento de la similitud en la secuencia del genoma humano y la del mono rhesus amplía el horizonte de las investigaciones biomédicas, entre otras dimensiones científicas beneficiosas para la comprensión de enfermedades y la salud humana. Ingrata humanidad.

No existe sobre el planeta que habitamos especie animal más dañina y peligrosa que la nuestra; ninguna más cruel y despiadada que la especie humana. Arrogante, egoísta, engreída y pretenciosa impone su poderío para sí. No obstante, pienso que la complicidad de la gente inteligente y sensible de nuestra especie debe ser para con la vida, la convivencia y la armonía entre las diversas especies animales, de las que somos parte. Celebro la liberación de los monos rhesus y patas y, por respeto a la vida por la vida misma, bienvenidos sean.

Vega Baja: Grupo ambiental VIDAS denuncia tala de árboles

El Grupo VIDAS Vegabajeños Impulsando Desarrollo Ambiental Sustentable, entidad de conocida reputación en la educación y defensa de los ecosistemas costeros, los bienes de dominio público y las comunidades.
Vidas denuncia su oposición y rechazo a la tala de 141 árboles en el Balneario Puerto Nuevo como parte del plan de mejoras a dicho balneario. Estamos de acuerdo con la reforestación del área, pero no basándola en la previa deforestación o eliminación de árboles que llevan muchas décadas allí, algunos del plan de reforestación llevado a cabo cuando las tierras pasaron a manos del pueblo en la pasada administración en la década del ‘90 y otros que por el diámetro de sus troncos se pueden estimar unos 50 o 60 años. Estos forman parte del pulmón de la playa, mas brindan frescura y brisa a los paseantes.
Además el tiempo de crecimiento de las plántulas quedaría la zona sin sombra, también estamos opuestos a la hipermeabilización del terreno con asfalto y los problemas de escorrentías asociados a esta, hay modos eco-amigables para hacer estacionamientos.
Estos árboles (tespecia populnea e hipomane manzanillo los últimos que se sembraron en los ‘90) están adaptados a la ZMT (zona marítimo terrestre) y cumplen la función de agarrar el terreno, particularmente en esta área impactada por la erosión del mar. Eliminarlos sería otro eslabón en la cadena de errores de esta administración municipal. Ya que entre otras cosas pesa una querella de VIDAS ante NOAA contra la administración municipal y la compañía subcontratada responsables de crear sedimentación resultante en mortandad de corales en peligro de extinción que por su importancia ecológica se están dando pasos para declararlo reserva marina Jardines Submarinos de Vega Baja – Manatí.
Exigimos Vistas Publicas para proyectos que afectan el bienestar de los que hemos escogido esta costa como hogar.
Lo que no se puede entender es como un municipio cuyo alcalde esta siendo investigado por un fiscal de la oficina del FEI por manejos turbios de dinero se le estén concediendo empréstitos y asignando fondos.

7. La construcción del anfiteatro ha de ser fuera de la Z.M.T
• Si las villas van a estar en la región de salvamento de la Z.M.T. han de ser en madera, ya que la misma sólo permite construcción no permanente.
• Las barreras de Beach Erosion Control (BEC) no deben ser usadas ya que son muy costosas y no funcionan. Una vez son removidas vuelve el problema de erosión. Existen sistemas económicos más funcionales, efectivos y sustentables.
• El estacionamiento debe ser administrado por el municipio y a precio asequible al ciudadano más pobre que viene a disfrutar de un baño de mar. El estacionamiento debe ser de $1.50 a $2.50 por día. Los días de poco tráfico de usuarios de la playa debe ser custodiado por la Guardia Municipal que tiene un cuartel en la playa actualmente cerrado.
• Los baños y las duchas deben tener un conserje asignado exclusivamente para su mantenimiento constante y custodia
• Se debe establecer un sistema de selección de basura (desperdicios sólidos inorgánicos) que provea suficientes zafacones para plástico, aluminio, vidrio, cartón, papel y comenzar ya en Puerto Rico un programa piloto para reciclaje de dichos sólidos extrayendo así un incentivo económico. Además el recoger los desperdicios orgánicos (comida) para ser utilizados como composta, producción de metano y utilizada por ejemplo para proyectos de siembra, producción de electricidad en comunidades costeras y aledaños.

As for the Guayanilla refinery, we have to take advantage of that bay's depth.

I would move part of Cataño´s CaPeCo. to those facilities; the ships have great access, only a short "feeding tube" from the ship to the warehouse tanks, are needed (which was the cause of last month's explosions); the long, existing "feeding tube" from the delivering ship (anchored in San Juan's Puerto Nuevo facilities) to the current tanks in the Bayamón, Cataño and Guaynabo borders.

Another great harbor, for our refined oil needs is in the current Sun Oil facilities in Yabucoa, which, also has excellent harbor facilities.

Left up to me, I would concentrate oil related products in Yabucoa and Guayanilla deep water bays; big cargo and post Panamax, huge cargo freight, transhipping to other destinations, in Ponce's transhipment port and local freights and shipping in San Juan, Roosevelt Rds. and Mayagüez bay facilities.

Yeah, I had to email the zoo for a simplification. The monkeys answered and said, "Monkey goood human baaad beurocracy goood". They also sent a message about bananas that would probably get blocked so I won't mention it.
