In response to a growing political push, the city is currently exploring options for bike rental locations on Staten Island. Borough President James Oddo and Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis have been leading the drive to bring bike rental vendors to specific Island spots, like the Franklyn D. Roosevelt Boardwalk and the St. George Ferry Terminal.

District Attorney Daniel Donovan is due to change jobs in a few days when he is sworn in on Capitol Hill as the newly elected congressman from Staten Island. Mr. Donovan, who has been the Richmond County D.A. since 2004, easily won the special election to replace ex-Rep. Michael Grimm, who resigned after pleading guilty to tax fraud.

Michael Grimm, R-N.Y., Republican District Attorney Daniel Donovan cruised to a nearly 20-point win over the Democratic nominee, New York City Councilman Vincent Gentile.

Having missed a meeting with GOP committee members Wednesday night, state Sen. Andrew Lanza will be one of the three candidates the Republican county committee will choose from at its party convention next Tuesday. Lanza wasn't able to attend a meeting with the executive committee, having informed Republican Committee Chairman John Antoniello that he was in Albany.
