A word of congratulations is in order for State Senator Shane Massey on his election this week to Senate Majority Leader. South Carolina Senate Republicans elected Massey, R-Edgefield, as Senate Majority Leader Wednesday, a conservative who at least one GOP leader has said will “shake things up” in the Senate.
South Carolina's Republican state senators today elected Shane Massey as their new GOP caucus leader. Massey, known as a young conservative reformer who often bucks senior leadership, is only the third Republican Majority Leader in 15 years.
Sen. Shane Massey, 40, is from Edgefield, representing the 25th District covering Aiken, Edgefield, Lexington, McCormick and Saluda Counties. Massey serves on the following committees: Agriculture and Natural Resources, Corrections and Penology, Judiciary, Labor, Commerce and Industry and Rules.
